Dame Emma Kirkby
The British soprano, with her unusually pure, crystalline voice and special sensitivity to sung words, is a globally sought-after pioneer of historical performance practice for early music.
Her interpretations of works by JS Bach, Buxtehude, Dowland, Handel, Monteverdi, Pergolesi, Purcell, and other composers are considered reference works.
Emma Kirkby was a founding member of the Tavern Choir.
In 2007, she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of her services.
Contents
The masterclass will combine solo and ensemble work. This additional focus on ensemble pieces reflects the rich tradition of ensemble music of this period. We strive to offer each participant the opportunity to schedule several time slots for solo pieces and ensemble works throughout the weekend.
